Pipe Major Niall Matheson

Niall competes at the highest level of solo piping, and is regarded as one of the top solo pipers of his generation. He is the holder of many prestigious piping titles, including the Argyllshire Gathering piobaireachd gold medal, the Northern Meeting gold medal, and the Braemar Highland Gathering piobaireachd gold medal on two occassions.
He was also invited to join the grade 1 Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band, which consisted of some of the best pipers and drummers in the world and was set up to compete in the 2008 World Pipe Band Championships.
After completing 12 years of service with the First Battn., The Queen's Own Highlanders (in which he achieved his Pipe Major qualification with a distinction), Niall now has 16 years of teaching under his belt.

Louise Augaitus
Louise comes from Glasgow and currently plays with the current British Pipe Band Champions, Inveraray and District. Shenplayed for Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band from 2009 to 2015, where she won two world drumming championships and many other major championships with the band.
As well as teaching many local bands and others all over Scotland, Louise is a drumming instructor at Dollar Academy Pipe Band, the current Juvenile World Champions.
Drumming has taken Louise to many different places in and outwith Scotland, such as New York, Switzerland and Denmark, to do a mix of judging, teaching and performing. Louise was also a member and drum corporal of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland for many years.

ROSS AND CROMARTY TARTAN
The Ross and Cromarty tartan is a unique tartan which was created especially for the pipe band. 2015 marked a decade since the tartan was first produced, and showcased at the arrival of the Queen Mary 2 in Invergordon.
